Around the corner from our place is a little street that takes me straight to the Law School Library across the hill. These pictures are from Spring, so less greenery than we have now.
After I discovered this path, the walk to the library takes less than 10 minutes, and about 15 to the French class that now is already over. I liked to take close looks at some of the houses lining the street, as they are such interesting testaments to the combination of old and new, as people have replaced the windows, but facades maintain their ... character. That is what I like to call it now. I got used to it:)
The towering cross at the bottom of the stairs impresses me, even if often it is only a cultural artifact in so many parts of Europe.
Will this do for exercise?
View from the top ... a pretext to catch one's breath...You know, the consequences of sitting in from of the computer for 15 hours a day...
And, here we are! The Law and Letters Library, displays its own ... character too. Although in this case, I wish it didn't. Judging by the posters plastered in many areas across the university buildings, the students' interests range from leftist political organizing to book clubs to obscure music genres... And that is all well and good, but perhaps it would be a good idea to not cover the pillars and the walls...
In front of the University, the Pheonix, symbol of rebirth, offers a student a moment of thought. Or rest. Even covered in graffiti, the Pheonix stands for many aspirations, old and new--chief among them, I believe, are the city's. It was almost entirely razed to the ground in World War II, and it has been revived.
